The Ramakrishna Sarada Mission is a society registered under Act XXI 1860 and is founded by the Sannyasinis who are the Trustees of Sri Sarada Math, Dakshineswar. It is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian spiritual organization which has been engaged in various forms of humanitarian and social service activities with a worshipful attitude for nearly than sixty years. Inspired by the ideals of renunciation and service, the Sannyasinis of the Mission serve everyone, without any distinction of caste, creed, religion or status. The objective of the Mission is to carry on educational, cultural, charitable and similar activities for women and children. The Mission Headquarters is located at Dakshineswar, Kolkata from where the activities of the different branch centres are regulated. The Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, New Delhi, is a branch of this organization. The New Delhi Centre was inaugurated in 1970, to commemorate the memory of Sister Nivedita (Margaret Elizabeth Noble), a disciple of Swami Vivekananda, who dedicated her life to the education of Indian women. Keeping up with the tradition of the global Ramakrishna Order, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, New Delhi is dedicated to the service of women and children for nearly fifty years. This Mission has been serving humanity in the fields of education, culture, health, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene. All these philanthropic activities are based on the principles of spirituality and practical Vedanta as taught by the Holy Trio Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda. Currently, the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, New Delhi is running seven welfare projects for underprivileged women and children. Nivedita Vidyamandir Nivedita Vidyamandir, an English-medium, co-educational Pre-primary and Primary school, was the very first project of this Centre. It is the only school in the whole of North India based on the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. The main objective of Nivedita Vidyamandir is imparting such education which will help children to develop a sound mind in a sound body. Great care is taken to develop the ethical character of the students in conformity with Swami Vivekananda's ideal of self- reliance, service and dedication. Stress is laid on all-round holistic development of the children, so that they can grow physically, intellectually, socially, morally and spiritually. Happiness, serenity of mind, a calm yet stimulating environment have all been merged with academic rigour.
